A busy summer is on the horizon

With only 50 days until the start of summer camp things are really starting to get going. This week 580 invitations will be sent out to campers in the Eastern Iowa area. In today's economic situation it's great to see that Tanager Place can still offer a 100% free week of summer camp to some very deserving children in the area. As always a big thank you to the community for their continued support of our program. Camp Tanager receives no government funding for their camp program and relies solely on donations from the community.

Next month we have some big clean up operations underway thanks to General Mills www.generalmills.com and United Way www.unitedway.org Both of these organizations have donated their time and resources to help Camp Tanager prepare their facility for the upcoming season. More information to follow on the clean up operations.

Soon, camp will be full of excited children - the sounds of laughter will echo through the trees, the sweet smell of campfire blowing in the breeze....ah, camp is almost upon us..

Happy Camping!

April at Camp Tanager

April is always an exciting month at Camp Tanager. Applications are starting to pour in for our Residential, Diabetes Camp, and Hemophilia Camp programs for this coming summer. April also marks the beginning of the 'great camp clean up' Preparations are well underway, and groups lined up to come in and help with the clean up, set up, and new construction of activity areas for this summer. Thanks to General Mills, VanMeter, and United Way for graciously donating their time and efforts to our camp!

Stay connected with Camp Tanager via their website, twitter, or blog. Updates on each project will be listed in the coming weeks.
