I often have parents and visitors comment on how nice the sleeping cabins are for the campers. Most people when they think camp, think of tents, sleeping bags, and bugs! At Camp Tanager our regular sleeping cabins are wood frame with cement floors, bunk beds, fans, and electricity! A far cry from tents and bugs!
Last summer we introduced a new option for campers - sleeping in a tipi! We constructed 3 traditional tipis - each of them able to sleep 12 campers and 2 counselors - on beds! Yep, they really are that big! Each tipi is 28ft across and has 20x 36ft poles - they are quite magnificent, and judging from the campers that had the opportunity to sleep in them - a fantastic experience.
This summer we are at it again... Our latest addition to camp comes in the form of platform tents. The tents contructed on a 14x16 platform will give kids the opportunity to experience sleeping in a tent - but without the bugs and rainwater pouring in! Each tent has rollup sides with sown in moquito net - the campers will really feel like they are sleeping outdoors! It's just another way Camp Tanager provides fun options for the campers served each summer!
Happy Camping!
